BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 11% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Jon Berti is one of the top names that comes to mind in the category of wide-spanning utility players with potential for voluminous stolen bases, but with just three home runs, four stolen bases in eight tries, and a slash of .210/.316/.318 in 176 AB this season, folks have been wary to give him a shot. Thankfully, he has started to turn the ship around this month, producing a BB/K ratio of 1/1, five XBH, and a .281/.373/.375 slash in 64 June AB. Strangely, his four stolen bases all came in May, while he was caught stealing twice in April and June.
Even more strange, Berti's BABIP has fallen from its usually high standing to .256 despite increases in grounders, line drives, hard hit rate, and average exit velocity, which seems to suggest that he should continue trending upward, particularly when he is striking out at below the MLB-average clip and walking with 13% frequency. For a multi-category contributor that can be plugged in almost anywhere, Jon Berti is a widely available option in deeper leagues.
