BALLER MOVE: Add In 14-Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 32% of leagues
ANALYSIS: If you read our Waiver Wire blurbs weekly then you know I wrote about Malik Monk last weekend. It was surprising to find Monk with a very low ownership rate, but seeing Clarkson rostered in just 32% of Yahoo leagues is truly insane. Clarkson has played 50 games this season, 29 with Cleveland and 21 in Utah. The underlying numbers are pretty much the same in both stints but for someone constantly dropping 15 points with upside to reach the 20s and great shooting percentages the ownership is ground-level low.
Clarkson is entering the All-Star Week having scored at least 12 points in five consecutive games with highs of 20 and 37 against San Antonio and Denver respectively. His minutes of playing time in Utah are near the 25 per game and he's on a healthy diet of around 12 field goal attempts per game of which he's hitting 45.7 percent of them since moving to Salt Lake City.
While Clarkson's averages in the rest of categories are not mind-blowing (2.4 rpg, 2 apg, 0.6 spg, 0.3 bpg on the season), his shooting is well worth having him rostered. Clarkson is finishing a quite high 25% of Utah's possessions on offense with just 1.2 turnovers per game on the season, which is reasonable considering his high shooting percentages. More than a capable player and a must-have in deeper leagues, probably in 12-team ones if he improves a bit in the secondary stat categories.
