Jose Berrios (SP, MIN) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues

OWNED IN: 20% Fleaflicker

ANALYSIS: Jose Berrios made his Major League debut on April 27, allowing five runs in just four innings against the Indians. He followed that up with two solid outings in which he lasted at least five frames while giving up no more than three runs. However, following a May 16 start against the Tigers in which he yielded seven runs and failed to escape the first inning, the Twins sent him back down to work out the kinks. Now, after a stretch of seven quality starts in eight Triple-A appearances, Berrios is returning to the big-league club to face the Indians on Monday night.

The 22-year-old Berrios is a top-15 prospect in all of baseball according to MLB Pipeline. He has a repertoire that includes three above-average-to-plus pitches — an electric, mid-90s fastball, a devastating curveball and a nasty changeup — that he mixes well.

Berrios owns a 2.44 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP with 111 K and just 35 BB in 103.1 innings in Triple-A this year. The talent is undeniable, and if he can harness that talent in his second go-around, he can make a large fantasy impact the rest of the way.
