BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-team or Deeper Leagues / Continue Scouting in Shallow Leagues
ANALYSIS: I loved Jose Quintana as one of my pre-season sleepers, somewhat based on the fact that the Sox offered him an extension. I figured their development people must have seen something and thus he'd be a good investment. Unfortunately, he was a little inconsistent to start the season and ultimately got himself dropped from my fantasy team.
Lately though Quintana has been very solid, minus two back to back bad starts in the middle of June. Dating back to the 19th of April, Quintana has only given up more than 3 runs in two out of his fourteen starts, along with a K/9 rate of 7.91. Most recently, Quintana is coming off a gem of a start where he pitched 7.2 innings, struck out ten, walked one, and only gave up four hits. This is why it surprises me that he is only 39 % owned in Yahoo leagues. This is a pitcher who is most likely better than the back end of your rotation, unless you're in a fairly shallow league. If he's still available in your fantasy league, pick him up off the waiver wire before more people catch on that he's more consistent than his initial impression this season led us to believe.
