Josh Hamilton suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain and will miss four weeks, according to FOX Sports.
Just as his career was turning back around after being traded back to the Texas Rangers, the outfielder will now miss another month of the season. The injury actually happened during his walk-off double against the Boston Red Sox in the 17-inning thriller.
The 34-year-old former AL MVP and batting champion sat out Tuesday and Wednesday’s games with what the Rangers said was tightness in his left hamstring, according to the report. Apparently it was worse than what some might have thought. He won’t be seen on the diamond until at least July.
In seven games this season, Hamilton has a .273 BA, 2 HR, 5 RBI and most notably, the walk-off hit where his teammates celebrated with him.
The injury likely cements Joey Gallo's spot in Texas for the foreseeable future. He had played six games in left field at Double-A Frisco prior to his promotion and could be used there when Adrian Beltre returns.
