ANALYSIS: Josh Harrison has flashed surprising power in May, as he already has four home runs in the month and six total for the season. This has been due to a combination of an increased fly ball rate and increased hard hit rate, so his gains in the power department seem legitimate. Harrison has been extremely inefficient in efforts to steal bases, as he is just 2-for-5 on the season. It is a good sign that he continues to run, so if he turns around the efficiency, he could contribute his customary 15 steals once again. It may be a bit late to pick up Harrison, as his OPS is only .722 OPS over the last 14 days, but the potential boost in stolen bases and .818 OPS for the season are still enough to add the Pirates' infielder.

Harrison has also been the beneficiary of the various suspensions, injuries, and legal troubles that have caused the absence of key contributors to the Pirates’ lineup. This has allowed him to consistently bat at or near the top of the lineup. He has reaped the benefits of that as he has scored nine runs and driven in eight in the month of May. His multi-position eligibility is an added bonus for fantasy owners in deeper leagues, especially for those teams that have struggled with injury. Pick up Harrison in deeper mixed leagues and he should be owned in all NL-only formats.
