Josh McCown and Adrian Peterson Expected to Play in Week 8

If you are a fan of Johnny Football’s I’m sorry to break it to you, but Manziel will be on the bench for the Cleveland Browns Week 8 game against the Arizona Cardinals. Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that Josh McCown will start Week 8 despite dealing with a rib and shoulder injury.

McCown hasn’t played horrible considering what he has to work with. He has completed 147 of 220 attempts. That’s a completion percentage of 66.8. He has thrown for 1686 yards and eight touchdowns through six games. He has only thrown three interceptions.

All that said, McCown is only a QB2 for fantasy football owners. He will be going up against a tough Cardinals secondary in Week 8, which doesn’t make him very appealing, especially considering he’s not 100 percent healthy.

Instead of starting McCown this week, consider starting Teddy Bridgewater or Jay Cutler. The Bears and Vikings face off against each other this week, and neither team has much of a defense.

Speaking of the Vikings-Bears game, Adrian Peterson will be ready to go. The Vikings running back returned to practice on Friday after missing Wednesday and Thursday with injuries to his hip, finger and ankle.

The 30-year-old has been banged up, but that hasn’t slowed him down. He has 530 yards on 120 carries for 4.4 yards per carry on average. He has three touchdowns on the ground. He has added 13 receptions for another 101 yards.

Peterson should be considered a must start RB1 in all fantasy football leagues every week regardless of matchup, but especially this week. I absolutely love Peterson’s matchup against the Bears and could see him score multiple touchdowns.

Although I expect the Bears to stack the box, I don’t think it will matter much.

As horrible as the Bears and Vikings are, I think it will be a great game for fantasy football owners. I could see a very high scoring contest.

I would, however, suggest that dynasty owners start shopping Peterson, especially if you aren’t in playoff contention. Peterson is 30 and it’s only a matter of time before Father Time catches up to him. His owners might not want to hear it, but this could be his last great season as a starting running back.
