ANALYSIS: Josh Reddick has bounced back nicely to begin 2017 after an abysmal and disappointing 2016 campaign. He is on pace for over 20 home runs after hitting just 10 all of last season. Much of that rebound comes from Reddick’s fly ball rate, which has jumped to 44.8%, his highest rate since 2014. He has maintained his low strikeout rate, meaning his .281 batting average should be sustainable. Reddick has an .861 OPS over the last 14 days, clubbing three home runs and scoring nine times. He does have issues against left-handed batters, .569 OPS in 23 at-bats, but his .845 OPS against right-handed pitchers is more indicative of the play that you will see from the 30-year-old.
Running hasn’t been a part of his game yet this season, he has just one steal on two attempts, due in part to the fact that he has been batting second in the Astros lineup. As stated earlier, he frequently sits versus lefties, but is still a valuable counting stats contributor. The strength of the Astros' lineup will help Reddick in the way of runs, as Reddick usually hits near the top of the lineup when he plays. As a three-to-four category contributor, Reddick should be picked up across all deeper leagues.
