ANALYSIS: While K.J. Osborn has been the WR3 of the Vikings all season long, the truth is that he's been heavily used just on a few games while absolutely faded in the others--and the problem is that the latter group of matches outgrows the former. Yes, Osborn was able to put up 14.6, 20.1, and 19.8 PPR points in W1, W2, and W6, but other than that he never got to score more than 6.6 fantasy points in any of the other 12 games he played prior to W13.
Then, of course, last Sunday happened. And more than that, it is not that he was good against Detroit (he was) but that he will have a WR2 role going forward as Adam Thielen got his ankle screwed and will most probably miss the remainder of the season. Osborn played in 92% of the Vikings snaps in Week 13 and racked up 14.7 PPR points to the tune of a 7-target, 4-reception, 47-yard, one-TD outing that has him as a top-21 wideout in W13 pending MNF.
In Weeks 1 to 12 Thielen was averaging 8+ targets per game that are now going to be vacated and open for others to eat from. Osborn is definitely the skill-position player with the best odds at getting most of those opportunities as Justin Jefferson is already commanding his healthy 9+ looks a day. Osborn has shown a high ceiling a bunch of times this season, and his floor only popped up when he was overlooked by QB Kirk Cousins (eight games below 14 PPR points, only one with more than 4 targets; four games with 14.6+ PPR points, all of them with 6+ targets). Perhaps the top WW target of the weekend and a must-roster/start player (at least as a WR3/Flex option) ROS if Thielen is done for good.
