ANALYSIS: Dede Westbrook and Marqise Lee were both confirmed out of the Week 9 international game for the Jaguars, and Keelan Cole stepped up to put on a massive performance covering for the two wideouts. His stock is as high as it gets, but it can only be hurt by the upcoming bye on Jacksonville’s schedule, as that could make for enough recovery time for Westbrook to be back in Week 11.
This past weekend, Cole was the go-to receiver for Gardner Minshew, who threw him six passes of which Cole was able to haul in five. Not only that, but he transformed those five receptions in 80 yards for an average of 16 yards per catch and although he couldn’t score a touchdown he still had a neat long reception of 31 yards on the day. Up to this point, Cole had a terribly low usage rate (season-best two targets in weeks 8 and 9) - three receptions combined for 14 yards and two scores. Obviously, that touchdown pace had to regress and it did this weekend, though his 13.3 yards per target were as solid as they could get.
Indianapolis (11th-best in points allowed to opposing WRs) is a much tougher proposition as a defense in Week 11 when the Jaguars are back on the schedule, but so far Cole has shown he’s capable of producing if given the opportunity. There are two weeks until that game, though, and if Westbrook is back by then the most probable lineup would leave Cole out. Cole is worth stashing though in deeper leagues, with the expectation of Westbrook not being fully fit, making way for another start by Keelan.
