ANALYSIS: If there is a week to pick Keelan Cole up, it is this one. Against the Jets on Sunday both Marqise Lee and Dede Westbrook had to leave the field injured. That leaves the Jaguars in a shaky situation at the receiver position with only Chris Conley and D.J. Chark as solid options entering Week 9.
Cole hasn’t done much this season, but in the few chances, he’s had he has performed as best as one could imagine. In Week 7 he was targeted just a couple of times but caught one of the passes for a touchdown. And in Week 8, also with just two targets, he was able to score another TD receiving both tosses for 12 total receiving yards. Playing Cole is one of the craziest things a fantasy owner could do before this week, but now it could turn to be a winning play with Lee and Westbrook out and Cole’s scoring prowess.
Adding wood to the fire is the fact that Jacksonville visits the worst defense (Houston) in points allowed to WRs next week and goes on a bye after that. I would say Cole would stay off the radar of most owners given his low usage and performance to date, but you should get him if only for a pick-and-play this week at the flex spot and then drop him if you want or if Dede and Marquise recover in time for Week 11.
