BALLER MOVE: Target ~ 125 (Current ADP: 138, WR: 44)
ANALYSIS: How many of you reading this know who the WR options on the Carolina Panthers are this year? I can take a quick guess that not many of you do...including myself (I had to research it beyond the subject of this post). As we all know Carolina decided to release their longtime #1 WR in Steve Smith but did you know they also lost their 2013 second and third WR options to free agency too (Tedd Ginn & Brandon LaFell)?
To shore up their receiving corps Carolina signed Jerricho Cotchery & Jason Avant but also drafted Kelvin Benjamin 28th overall. Last season Cotchery had a decent season with the Steelers as their #3 WR option and is currently listed as the Pathers #1 WR. I can take a hunch that the Panthers didn't draft Benjamin to be their #2 or #3 option but indeed their #1 option this year and for the future. I expect that Benjamin will have his ups and downs at the beginning of the season as he develops in the NFL. Near the middle of the season is where I see his value peaking and also when it matters most. If you are looking for a WR sleeper, use a later draft pick on Benjamin but be patient with him as he moves up the depth chart as his play develops.
