BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 30% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: Kelvin Herrera is now a top 10-12 closing option in the fake game because Wade Davis has landed on the DL with a forearm strain. The injury could be minor, but that type of strain is a usually a huge red flag and often leads to Tommy John surgery. If Herrera is floating around in your league's free agent pool, you should jump in with your clothes on. Not only could Herrera potentially be the closer for the Royals for the rest of the season, but he should be highly effective in the role and he is always a great source of K's and ratios, as he's posted an 11.41 K/9 along with a 1.40 ERA through 38 and 2/3 innings pitched. Hopefully Davis isn't seriously injured. If that is the case, Herrera would only be the closer for a short period of time-- 2-4 weeks or so. In any case, Herrera should immediately be added everywhere possible because he will likely have the job for at least several weeks and perhaps for the rest of the season. Unless Herrera also succumbs to injury, he'd likely be a top RP option and could make a rather large impact down the stretch. Go get him, go getters! If Herrera is already gone you should consider adding Joakim Soria, as he may potentially be in the mix for KC saves as well. Knowing Ned Yost I wouldn't be at all surprised if he put the wrong player in the closer's chair because, well, he's Ned Yost. Soria is available in 88% of Fleaflicker leagues.
