BALLER MOVE: Add in All Saves Leagues
OWNED IN: 49% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: After blowing a save last night, Will Harris has been demoted as the closer for the Astros. Ken Giles will be taking over, and should be added in all leagues that count saves. You can see our full MLB closers & saves depth charts updated here.
The Astros traded for Giles to be their closer of the future - but after early season struggles, both Luke Gregerson and Will Harris filled in. Now that Giles has had some time to regroup, and is pitching very well, the Astros are turning back to him. Even with the early season struggles, Giles still holds a 3.80 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 63:13 K:BB ratio over 42 2/3 innings. Over the last 30 days, he's allowed zero earned runs to go along with a 0.81 WHIP and 19 K in 8 2/3 IP. Nasty stuff.
Assuming he doesn't struggle this time around, Giles should be soaking up the save opportunities moving forward, and with an elite strikeout rate to go along with it. He's still available on many waiver wires, so go ahead and add him if your league counts saves - or put in a modest bid with your FAAB budget. He can be a strong source of saves down the homestretch for fantasy owners.
