BALLER MOVE: Add in all leagues
OWNED: 71% of Yahoo! Leagues
ANALYSIS: I know, I know, 71% owned is pretty high to be including Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in a Waiver Wire Pickups article, but he wasn’t owned in the RotoBaller Writer’s Fantasy Basketball League until now, so I figured it was worth a write up.
I’ll keep it short and sweet. KCP has played over 35 minutes a game, averaged over 11 shot attempts (including over five 3PA), and chipped in around four rebounds every night. That is worth an add in any league. Believe it or not, there is still room for upside. As the season goes on he’ll get more comfortable in Detroit’s new offensive system and I would expect his FG% to take a sizable bump. You will definitely have to deal with some cold shooting nights, but they should be few and far between as the season progresses.
Conservatively, KCP should average around 13 PTS, two 3PM, four REB, one steal and I truly believe that’s closer to his floor than his ceiling. This guy can flat out shoot and as he gets more experience he could become one of the premiere 3PM options in fantasy basketball. The fact that he helps in rebounds, steals and FT% (shooting 100% on the season so far…) only cements him as a must-add even while he continues to develop.
Bottom Line: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is the only wing player Detroit has to stretch the floor who is any good (other than maybe Marcus Morris). He will continue to get shots all season even if he goes cold, so go add him now before he starts making more of them.
