BALLER MOVE: Leave on waiver wire
OWNED IN: 29% of Fleaflicker leagues
ANALYSIS: Ketel Marte turned some heads in his short big league stint in 2015 with his speed and hitting ability. Called up in late July, Marte batted .289 and .292 in August and September, and was given the Opening Day nod as the Seattle Mariners' starting shortstop entering 2016, a world of hype surrounding his debut.
Marte hasn't fully transitioned into an every day player and has only displayed flashes of the abilities the hype was based on. He has stolen only one base, and is batting .195 over 41 at-bats. The run production isn't there either as he's driven in only one run. Marte is now currently 0 for his last 9. His strikeout percentage is slightly up and his base on ball percentage is slightly down from last season. It could take Marte some time to acclimate, so for now, it's safe to leave him on the wire as other shortstops, likely still available, have been producing more consistently, and diversely, for fantasy lineups. Keep an eye on him, though. The Mariners have high hopes for Marte, and so should we.
