BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 9% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: Some feared this in the preseason, and now it is a reality. Twins closer Glen Perkins has hit the DL with a shoulder injury, bringing back flashbacks of the injury that ended his 2015 season.
Kevin Jepsen is expected to slide in as the new closer for the Twins, for as long as Perkins is sidelined. He filled-in admirably for Perkins last year, racking up 10 saves from August 21st through the end of September. Trevor May should act as the new setup man, although he could also factor into the saves mix if Jepsen struggles. You can see our full MLB closers & saves depth charts updated here.
Last year, Jepson held a 1.61 ERA and 0.89 WHIP in 29 games for the Twins (28 IP), to go along with a 25:7 K:BB rate. We are not sure how long Perkins will be sidelined yet, as this is not the first time he has had issues with this shoulder, so Jepsen is a must-add in all leagues that count saves. If Jepsen is available on your waiver wire, immediately add him or put in a modest bid with your FAAB.
