Corey Kluber follows 18-strikeout performance with 12 fanned on Monday against the Chicago White Sox.
After a shaky start to 2015, the reigning AL Cy Young winner is showing why he won the award. Monday’s performance was in Chicago and Kluber struck out 12 of his division rivals while going nine innings. Unfortunately for the Cleveland Indians, they lost the game in extras.
On Wednesday, the 29-year-old right-hander flirted with a no-hitter. Kluber struck out 18 in eight shutout innings against the Cardinals. In his last two starts, he has a combined 30 K’s. Before these past two starts, Kluber allowed 19 runs in four starts, while striking out 21.
Chris Sale was on the mound for the White Sox and the 2014 third-place finisher for the Cy Young dazzled through eight innings. The left-hander only allowed a run through eight innings. He allowed five hits and a walk. The only run came on a wild pitch in the sixth inning.
Kluber lowered his ERA to 3.79 with a 1.12 WHIP and a 76/12 K/BB ratio in 61 2/3 innings. His next start will come over the weekend against the Reds.
