Kris Bryant Drills Walk-Off HR To Save Cubs Victory

Kris Bryant delivered a two-run walk-off homerun for the Chicago Cubs on Monday as they defeated the Colorado Rockies.

The Cubs were up 7-4 going into the ninth inning when Rafael Soriano blew a save by allowing four runs. Bryant, 23, saved the day in the ninth inning with Chicago chasing one run. With Rockies closer John Axford on the mound, Bryant came up with a runner on and delivered a shot over the left-center wall to win the game.

It was the first walk-off homer of Bryant’s rookie career. The slugger went 2-for-5 with 3 RBI on the day, which bumped his batting line to .254/.358/.453 with 14 HR and 59 RBI.

The Cubs improved their record to 52-46 and are now two games back for the second Wild Card spot, which is occupied by the San Francisco Giants. If the Giants lose to the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday, Chicago will gain a half a game in what is going to be a tight race for the postseason.
