Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd Pick up the Slack for Chris Johnson in Winning Effort

Whenever the Seattle Seahawks come to town, it’s imperative that the home team brings their A-game. On the road at Seattle that becomes even more imperative.

Fortunately for fans of the Arizona Cardinals living both inside and outside of Glendale, most of the Cardinals came to play on Sunday Night against Pete Carroll and the Seahawks in Seattle—emphasis on the word “most.”

Larry Fitzgerald, for example, was oustanding during the contest. The veteran receiver turned in an impressive performance (as is usually the case), catching 10-of-15 targets for a jaw-dropping 130 yards of total offense. Though he wasn’t able to find the end zone, he played a large role in the Cardinals’ 39-32 victory.

Sunday night, most of Fitzgerald’s targets came with him positioned in the slot. Though the majority of Fitzgerald’s career his seen him line up as a wideout for deeper passes, by getting things started from the slot position he was able to avoid Richard Sherman altogether.

Fitzgerald easily led the team with 15 total targets with John Brown and Michael Floyd at less than 100%. With at least 80 yards in all but one game this year, Fitzgerald should be considered a back-end WR1 option when the Cardinals host the undefeated Bengals next week at University of Phoenix Stadium.

On the flip-side of things, Chris Johnson didn’t have the kind of night running the ball he would’ve hoped for. Johnson had 25 carries for 58 yards and zero touchdowns. However, Johnson’s lack of production isn’t entirely his fault.

Understandably, Johnson struggled to find running room behind an offensive line that lost left guard Mike Iupati during the first half of play. Also, Johnson lost 37 snaps to Andre Ellington. Johnson has had a bit of a renaissance year and is playing well, but fantasy owners expected much more from him during Sunday night’s featured event.

Averaging just under 4.0 yards per rush attempt in five out of nine games, Johnson will be considered a lower-end RB2 option against the Bengals in Week 11.
