ANALYSIS: After back to back solid years of fantasy production, Leonys Martin has struggled to get things going in 2015. The Rangers center-fielder has hit a measly slash line of .243/.281/.343 with only 20 runs scored and 10 stolen bases. As expected, Martin has not hit for much power, but his lack of typical production out of the Rangers leadoff spot has led many fantasy owners to abandon ship.
There may be reason to wait on the 27-year-old for just a little bit longer. Martin has a mere .273 BABIP this year which is low for someone of his speed and history of a higher BABIP (.317 career). He certainly has the speed to steal thirty bases every season and could score a lot of runs in front of a dangers Rangers lineup. He will not walk very often, but his above average speed should help him raise his batting average up a bit more to help him reach base more often. There is still fantasy potential left in Leonys Martin, but fantasy owners would be wise to approach each week with caution.
