Leury Garcia (SS/OF, CWS) - Week 17 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: 

If you’re in need of an all-around outfielder and can’t risk a ton of strikeouts, Leury Garcia is a phenomenal option. For one, he destroys lefties. If you see a few lefties coming up on the docket, his .392 wOBA is a weapon in the lead off hole. Against righties, he’s not as strong of a hitter, but has five home runs and seven stolen bases on the season.

He went 4-for-5 just a game ago with three doubles and five R + RBI. He’s solidified himself in the lead off hole as a guy who can hit both sides of the rubber and has a rare speed/power combo. Garcia is owned in only 16% of leagues, so he’s likely up for the taking if you need him. The White Sox are going to put up runs in the summertime and Garcia will have five or six at-bats in most games. He’s worth a short-term look at the very least to see if he can continue this hitting trend. With multiple positional eligibility, I don't see the downside to picking up Garcia in a deeper league.
