ANALYSIS: While Blake Treinen is expected to be activated from the injured list when first eligible on Wednesday, it's fair to wonder if he will immediately reclaim the ninth inning in Oakland. The best reliever of 2018 hasn't come anywhere close to recapturing that magic this season, with a 4.08 ERA and 1.53 WHIP, and the A's may want to ease him back into things after his shoulder flared up.

Liam Hendriks has shut the door all three times he's been called upon to do so in Treinen's absence, and he's pitched tremendously all season. The 30-year-old has struck out 30% of the batters he's faced en route to sparkling ratios (1.38 ERA, 1.07 WHIP) and is a good pickup in any format if you need saves, even if only in the short term.
