The Los Angeles Dodgers and Brandon Beachy have agreed to a one-year deal with a club option for 2016, according to Ken Rosenthal, confirmed by Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

In a corresponding roster move to make space on the 40-man roster, pitcher Chris Withrow was moved to the 60-day disabled list.
Beachy, 28, missed the entire 2014 season with his second Tommy John surgery and will likely start the 2015 season on the disabled list. For the Dodgers, the signing of Beachy is not meant for just this season as the potential departures by Brett Anderson or Zack Greinke, should he decide to opt-out, will create a vacancy that Beachy could fill in 2016.
The former Atlanta Braves starting pitcher could be a valuable asset to the Dodgers if he returns to form prior to the surgery. In four years with the Braves, Beachy pitched to a career 3.23 ERA over 267.2 innings while striking out just over a batter per inning (9.2 K/9).
There is no telling how Beachy will bounce back from his second Tommy John surgery of his career though.
