BALLER MOVE: Draft target ~170
CURRENT ADP: ~193 overall
ANALYSIS: Voit was never going to sustain his .322/.398/.671 small-sample slash line from 2018, but he remained productive when healthy in 2019. Prior to suffering a sports hernia in late July, he hit 19 homers in 94 games with a .278/.392/.493 line. After returning, he hit just .200/.319/.338, which is a clear indication this is final 2019 numbers were hampered by the injury.
A .494 xSLG and 38 barrels on the season suggest that his results were somewhat worse than you might expect in the power department. A 13.2% barrel rate and 89.7 mph exit velocity, when paired with his 12.8 launch angle and 40% Sweet Spot% suggest positive regression. Although his .249 xBA isn't confidence-inducing, his increasing walk rate (up to 13.9% in 2019) shows strong plate discipline that could lead to average growth.
Even if he remains the same as years past, a .250 average would be totally respectable for a guy who could push 30 home runs in the middle of a powerful lineup. Voit should ultimately hit plenty of homers and drive in runs for another strong Yankees offense. His ADP of 193 seems like an overreaction to his late-season slump that was connected to his hernia; his RotoBaller staff ranking of 169 is a better spot to target him.
