BALLER MOVE: Watch on the waiver wire, could be an interesting play in deep/very deep leagues.
ANALYSIS: Keenan Allen has to prove that he is not a one year wonder. That could be difficult to do in the Chargers run heavy scheme, with backs Ryan Matthews and Danny Woodhead both primed to have big seasons. If Allen does not live up to all the hype, the Chargers offense is going to have to find someone else to throw the ball to at the WR position. The ten year veteran Malcom Floyd could be an effective pass catcher for Philip Rivers. Floyd has been a strong WR2 throughout the preseason, and that is reflected in the Chargers depth chart where Floyd is placed above Eddie Royal. After suffering a neck injury last season that only allowed him to play in two games, Floyd has been impressing not only the coaching staff, but defensive backs as well. KC Chiefs DB Brandon Flowers said, "He's in Year 10 and he's moving like he's in Year 3." The only concern to have with Floyd is his health. I never like to anticipate an injury, but Floyd has only played in one complete season in his ten year career. The upside is there, however. In every season that Floyd played ten games or more, his accumulated stat line is as follows: 223 REC on 375 TGTS for 3838 YDS, averaging 17.2 YPR and posting 24 TDs. Whether or not Keenan Allen takes a step back this season, look for Malcom Floyd to be a part of the passing scheme in SD, barring health issues.
