BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED: 41% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: Marcell Ozuna had a 2015 to forget, and simply put, burned a lot of fantasy owners who were expecting a lot more. After hitting .269 with 23 home runs and 85 RBI in 2014, the 25-year-old followed it up by hitting .259 with 10 home runs and 44 RBI, bottoming out with a summer banishment to the minors. He was strong when he was brought back to Miami, hitting .278 with six home runs and 18 RBI in 44 games, but by then, it was too little, too late for all those owners would lost patience and moved on.
Enter 2016. After an off-season of trade rumors, the Marlins decided that giving him another chance was more valuable than any trade offer they received. Fantasy owners should follow suit on the 41% owned outfielder, and double down on Ozuna. A return to form would make him a contender for the top 30 fantasy outfielders. His fantastic 2014 was worth 11.1 offensive WAR, good for 29th overall, between Adam Eaton and Jason Heyward.
So far this year, Ozuna looks poised to return to form. He enjoyed a great spring, hitting .304 with two home runs and five RBI in 18 games. In 12 regular season at-bats, he's 2-for-12 with three runs. Nothing is ever a sure thing in baseball, but few lottery tickets come with as little risk and as much reward as Ozuna. Look for him to start making noise when the Marlins visit the Mets starting Monday, as over his career, he has hit well at Citi Field (.289 average) and against Mets' pitching (.299).
