ANALYSIS: Coming into the 2016 season several experts, including myself, tabbed Marcus Semien to have a breakout season. This is largely due to the fact that Marcus posted very good numbers at the beginning and end of the 2015 campaign as he cracked six HR in the first 50 games and then seven HR in the last 52 games of the season. In the dog days of summer Semien only managed two HR. During that stretch of games Semien was playing very poor defense and he seemed to bring his defensive woes to the plate with him as he also had very poor at bats. It's worth noting that Marcus also had a .288 BABIP in June and a .224 BABIP in July, so not only was he struggling but also unlucky. The rest of the months he played last season his BABIP was .328-.344. If you need help at SS or in the MI I would recommend picking up Semien if he's available. If he's not I would recommend trying to acquire him in a trade, because a SS with a decent average and the capability to go 20/15 is rather valuable in the fake game.
