BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 42 percent of Fleaflicker leagues
ANALYSIS: Marcus Semien hasn't gone deep in two weeks, yet he's still on pace for a 30 HR season. That kind of pop from the shortstop position is obviously rare, and not something that can often be found floating around on the waiver wire. But that's where you can find Semien in nearly 60 percent of fantasy leagues right now. The reasons are obvious: Semien is hitting just .222, and the Athletics don't exactly score a ton of runs. That's why Semien has the fewest RBI among the 37 hitters with 10 or more home runs to this point.
That average seems likely to trend up, though, as Semien currently sports a .235 BABIP, 77 points below his career mark. He's kept his strikeout rate under control while nudging his walk rate above 10 percent, which makes him a more palatable play in OBP leagues. He also has some potential for stolen bases; though he's only 2-for-3 so far, he did swipe 11 bags last season.
