The 34-year-old Iwakuma has found success in his four years with the Seattle Mariners. Despite starting a career-low 20 games, his successful past will justify teams giving him consideration during free agency. In his four-year career, Iwakuma has not had a losing record and exceeded 170.0 innings just two times. Last year, Iwakuma was 9-5 with a 3.54 ERA with 111 strikeouts in 129.2 innings.
Iwakuma is expected to reject the qualifying offer.
