The Miami Marlins are interested in former Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly.
Mattingly was let go as the manager of the Dodgers after the team was eliminated by the New York Mets in the NLDS in what Mattingly said was a “mutual parting.” After five seasons in L.A., he said he won’t manage in 2016. The Marlins could make a run to try and change his mind.

The Marlins were expected to be a postseason contender this season but finished with a 71-91 record. If they acquire Mattingly, they would have a manager that owned a .551 winning percentage with the Dodgers. Besides a 446-363 record, he led L.A. to three straight NL West titles for the first time in franchise history. The only thing he didn't do with the Dodgers was to get the franchise to hoist the World Series trophy under his watch.
Miami has some key pieces that could intrigue any manager. Giancarlo Stanton is one of the best hitters in all of baseball when healthy. Jose Fernandez is a young pitching start that has been absolutely dominant thus far in his career.
