Marqise Lee Might Start, Peyton Manning Has Cast Removed and a Kendall Wright Update

With Allen Hurns doubtful to play in Week 13, the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to need another receiver to step up and help Blake Bortles in the team’s passing game. Head coach Gus Bradley is hoping that guy can be Marquis Lee.

According to the Florida Times Union, Bradley said Lee has a “good shot” to start this week.

When the team drafted Lee with the 39th overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft, they were hoping he would develop into a franchise receiver. Unfortunately, he has been hampered by injuries and the emergence of Hurns and Allen Robinson has limited his opportunities to see playing time.

When he was being evaluated by NFL scouts, it was believed that Lee had the ability to be a decent starting receiver in the league, especially out of the slot. Week 13 against the Tennessee Titans will be his time to prove himself. Thus far this season he has only five receptions for 51 yards.

I would not recommend starting Lee this week, even if he does get the start across from Robinson. I would, however, add him to your fantasy football rosters in case he earns himself a larger role going forward.

Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak may have to decide between future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler sooner than he had hoped. Manning had the cast removed from his left foot on Wednesday and may be ready to play soon.

Considering the Broncos are 2-0 with Osweiler under center, including a win over the previously undefeated New England Patriots, it will be hard for Kubiak to bench him. Then again, how can Kubiak bench Manning, who is widely regarded as one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game?

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in a few weeks as the playoffs approach us.

In other news, Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kendall Wright may or may not be happy to hear that he leads his team in receiving. He’s a very talented receiver who would likely thrive under a good quarterback, but he only has 30 catches thus far.

You may ask: how is it possible he leads the team in receiving with just 30 catches? Well, that’s because the Titans have the fewest catches by wide receivers in the league this season. The entire group has combined for only 90 catches.

Despite that, I would consider Wright a WR3 against the Jaguars on Sunday. Perhaps the Titans best threat in the passing game, tight end Delanie Walker, is a must start TE1 every week he’s playing.
