Matt Asiata (RB, MIN) - Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: Although Asiata has been discussed at length on RotoBaller already, and on this waiver wire sleepers list as well, he is still only owned in 52% of Fleaflicker leagues so I'm going to discuss him again. As most of you already know, Adrian Peterson has a big-time controversy on his hands and some legal issues to deal with. In wake of the recent news, the Minnesota Vikings deactivated him so that he could address the matter. Given this information, I once again bring to your attention the Vikings backup running back Matt Asiata, who filled in last week and played admirably (especially in PPR leagues) with 5 catches, 48 yards receiving, 36 yards rushing and a TD.  Since there is uncertainty about when Peterson will be returning this year, if at all, Asiata will be the first up to get the starting nod again for the Vikings.  If you are looking for a RB and need at minimum a short term solution, Asiata is a nice option. He should continue to get volume, goal-line carries, and catches out of the backfield, as long as he can continue to block well for the QB and move the chains. Asiata may also have some long term value, depending on how the Vikings handle the matter with Peterson, which makes him a waiver target in just about all leagues where he's still available.
