BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 55% of Yahoo leagues
ANALYSIS: Fantasy owners showed a lot more love toward Oakland's other second-year Matt (that'd be Matt Olson) in drafts this spring, but Matt Chapman quietly smacked 14 home runs in half a season as a rookie last year. He's off to a great start in 2018, hitting .400/.455/.633 with two home runs and 10 R+RBI through eight games. He's also cut down on the whiffs in the early going, and strikeout rate tends to stabilize pretty quickly for hitters. That was the knock on Chapman coming into the year - the pop is nice, but in the current environment, 30 bombs don't carry the same cachet they used to - particularly when they're attached to a low average. The A's third baseman isn't going to contend for a batting title, but a little more contact could push his average into respectable territory.
Chapman is owned in just over half of Yahoo leagues right now. He's a great CI or backup 3B in standard formats.
