ANALYSIS: Matt Duffy has been a pleasant surprise this year on a Tampa Bay Rays team that wasn't expected to do a whole lot. He's having one of his best years so far in his still young career. He's hitting .317 and has a mediocre .340 wOBA. While he only has four home runs this year, he has 16 doubles and 67 singles. Duffy doesn't have great speed, but he has six stolen bases so far.
Duffy was hot in June when he scored 14 runs and hit .340. He's looking to continue that going into the second half of the season. His July was a little colder when he only hit .294. It's nice to have someone with middle infield and corner infield eligibility for the versatility. Duffy bats near the top of the order, so he should have plenty of value going forward. Look for him to start heating up as he get back in the groove after the all star break.
