CURRENT ADP: 82.8
STATUS: Overvalued
ANALYSIS: The departure of Albert Pujols took away from the Cardinals a franchise player and a big force in the middle of their lineup. With Pujols leaving, the pressure of being the big time hitter was put on the shoulders of Matt Holliday. Holliday was tasked with making up for the departure of the decade’s greatest hitter. Holliday more than made up for it, posting a higher wOBA than Pujols since 2012, with Holliday at .374 and Pujols at .345. But much like Pujols, Holliday’s value is trending downward.
Holliday, now 35, is past the prime of his career and his numbers have started to show it. Despite hitting for his third highest fly ball rate of his career at 37.8%, Holliday hit only 20 home runs in 156 games, the lowest total of his career when playing in at least 130 games. Holiday's ISO was also a career low at .169 and, like many of his numbers, is also on a sharp decline. Matt Holliday is still a decent player, and would be a solid pickup in later rounds, but he is by no means a top 100 pick as his numbers continue to be on the decline.
