ANALYSIS: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist made his season debut Friday following shoulder surgery in early October. Originally thought to be out for the entire season, Kidd-Gilchrist is returning to the court with 36 games remaining in the regular season for the Charlotte Hornets. He posted 13 points and seven rebounds in 34 minutes, converting on five of eight shots.
Kidd-Gilchrist has yet to develop into the star the Hornets had hoped him he would become when they selected him second overall in the 2012 NBA Draft. Still, he is just 22 years old and enjoyed his best statistical season in 2015, when he averaged 10.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. As long as he is healthy, the former Kentucky standout should see quality minutes -- even with a crowded perimeter in Charlotte -- because of his abilities as a lock-down defender. That will give him upside if he can continue to improve his more fantasy relevant skills.
