BALLER MOVE: Pick up in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 9% of Fleaflicker leagues
ANALYSIS: Entering the 2016 season, it wasn't clear whether Michael Saunders or Chris Colabello would get the majority of starts in left field. Dalton Pompey was also thrown into the mix during spring training, but upon moving back down to the minors, it became a two-man race again. Saunders, a lefty, was likely going to see more time against righties, while Colabello could potentially platoon against lefties. That hasn't been the case as Colabello has seen time solely at first base, making Saunders Toronto's everyday left fielder over the first two weeks of the early season.
Saunders has also now been moved up to the leadoff spot. Manager John Gibbons announced that he will remain in that role for the "foreseeable future," according to Sportsnet.ca. This could potentially ignite the Blue Jays offense and give Saunders a solid boost in fantasy value, if he's able to produce better than Kevin Pillar did batting first earlier in the season. With all the formidable bats following him in the lineup, Saunders can now contribute plenty of runs scored to a lineup, and has displayed the ability to use his legs frequently, once stealing 21 bags with the Seattle Mariners in 2012. Those in need of depth at the outfield position, Saunders isn't heavily owned and should continue leading off for one of the league's best lineups.
