Mike Gesicki (TE, MIA) - Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 19% of Leagues

ANALYSISIt took quite some time, but it looks like Mike Gesicki has finally arrived. The second-year tight end has been targeted at least six times in his five last games and although he had a couple of duds in weeks 10 and 11 (5.8 fantasy points each), he excelled in his other three outings. He started this run back in Week 9 when he caught six passes for 95 yards (15.5 FP) and in his last two games, he has been able to score two touchdowns (one in each) while catching three and five passes for 28 and 79 yards respectively. Those games went for 11.8 and 18.9 FP.

Finding such a productive tight end this late in the season, given the scarcity of the position, is miraculous at the very least. Gesicki was the TE24 entering Week 13 but his massive 18.9-point tally this weekend has him averaging 15.3 FP in the last two weeks, good for TE3 only behind Jared Cook (16.7) and Zach Ertz (16.3) in that span. He is also the only player at the position with two touchdowns in the last couple of weeks.

Miami’s season is more than over and they can do nothing more than try and develop their young players and see what they have in their hand going forward. Gesicki should be part of the Dolphins' future so his usage should keep up, and it is not that Miami has many more options on offense.

Neither the Jets (fifth-best against the position) nor the Giants (third-best) look like good matchups in weeks 14 and 15 but you can do much worse at the position. Gesicki should be a must-play if you’re streaming the position and can add him for free no matter the toughness of those two games given how he has been performing lately. If you can add him and keep him in your roster until Week 16 (fantasy championship game) he might award you the league as Cincinnati ranks below-average (17th) against the position.
