ANALYSIS: While the Patriots already have a first-round bye locked up for the AFC playoffs, they must still beat the Jets in Week 17 to secure home-field advantage throughout. Rex Burkhead (knee) will remain out, so Dion Lewis will once again serve as the workhorse in this backfield.
However, Gillislee, who was active last weekend for the first time since Oct. 29 against the Chargers, should again spell Lewis in short-yardage and goal-line situations. While Gillislee had just six carries for 28 yards against Buffalo, he did manage to score his fifth touchdown of the season in the process, and he even recorded his first reception of the year.
In a game where New England could coast to an easy win, Gillislee could be relied on more frequently as a plodder to eat up clock and also to give Lewis some rest, if possible. Look to Gillislee as an RB3/flex option in standard leagues if you're desperate.
