BALLER MOVE: Target Around ~170 Overall
CURRENT ADP: 180+ (Undrafted)
ANALYSIS: Before going forward with the rest of the post, let me explain Trubisky's situation and appeal as a sleeper. If you haven't been living under a rock you know Chicago brought Nick Foles to back up Trubisky, or basically to eventually take over the starting role when Trubisky proves--once more--not good enough to start weekly. That is why, all things and on a broader, season-long view, Trubisky's ADP is at 280, far from drafted in 12-team leagues. BUT, I'm convinced that Trubisky will start the year as the QB1 of his team, which makes for a great last-round pick if you pass on quarterbacks early and plan on stream the position down the road.
If we're honest here, and even more taking into account the ongoing pandemic and its impact on offseason workouts, Trubisky will most probably start the season leading the Bears on offense. At the very least I'd say he'd play three or four games before Chicago benches him in favor of Foles if things go awry for Mitch (say, no wins in that span). If he can keep the team at least around a .500 winning percentage, though, it is not hard to think Chicago would keep him as the starter. If that happens you would probably have a steal in your hands.
If that happens, Trubisky would be the third-lowest drafted starter only ahead of Tyrod Taylor and Ryan Fitzpatrick. To me, those three QBs are last-round steals. If only for a few weeks, Trubisky doesn't look that bad to me. He would be a good waiver addition to stream or a last-round draft pick. He's projected to finish the season as the QB32, sure, but that is because PFF is factoring a 50/50 split with Foles (QB31). If somehow Trubisky manages to play more than those games he would rack up 260+ fantasy points (again PFF projections) that would be good for QB17, which is to say a mid-level QB2 with upside for more if he can stay on the field. All of that at his current price of QB31 and undrafted-ADP. Total upside and value pick this one.
