ANALYSIS: The whispers are getting louder each passing day: Chicago will re-sign QB Mitchell Trubisky this next offseason and keep him rostered for 2021 and beyond. That might not be the best-looking future out there for an NFL franchise at the most important position on the field, but hey, something's something I guess. And Trubisky is kind of making a compelling case of late.
Trubisky has started every game from W12 on after getting benched for Nick Foles all the way back in Week 3 when he couldn't finish that match against Atlanta. In his last five starts, Trubisky has averaged 19 FP per game with an average statistical line of 23-of-34 completions per game, 248 passing yards, and 2 TDs per outing. In fact, Trubisky has thrown for 10 TDs in those five games while "only" getting picked four times. He had 6 TDs and 3 INTs in his first two games and a half, so you can see the slight improvement there.
Trubisky doesn't have any kind of rushing upside, but he scored his first and only rushing TD of the year yesterday against Jacksonville. He added 265 yards and two more scores through the air and got picked once. All in all, this was Trubisky's second-best game of the year and had him ranked QB6 in the week (pending MNF).
Chicago ends the season against Green Bay, and that looks like a tough challenge on paper for good old Mitch as the Packers have the fifth-best D against fantasy QBs. Even then, though, Trubisky had a rather nice game facing GB back in W12 when he finished with 18.8 FP to the tune of 242 yards and 3 TDs. Not a streaming option for leagues with more and better/less risky available players at the position, but definitely someone to consider in deeper formats and 2QB leagues.
