MLB DFS Premium Cheatsheet for 4/14/21
Top Tournament Stacks for 4/14/21
This section will highlight the top tournament lineup stacks of the day (depending on the size of the slate) and help you identify the pitchers that are best suited to pick on if you are using this strategy:
Houston Astros vs. Michael Fulmer
The Astros are in a great spot to break out after scoring only nine runs during this four-game losing streak. They take on Fulmer, who has looked good in relief this season (40 K%), but still has had troubles with the longball, allowing two home runs in only seven innings. Fulmer posted a 2.6 HR/9 in 27.2 innings last season as well. This puts lefty sluggers like Yordan Alvarez and Kyle Tucker firmly in play. The Astros are -240 favorites with a 4.5 run team total. Their offense should be able to get back on track in this game.
Atlanta Braves vs. Nick Neidert
The Braves have a great matchup against Neidert, who allowed five walks in 4.1 innings in his first start of the season. This is a mediocre pitcher who likely won't pitch more than five innings, allowing the Braves to get to a weak Marlins bullpen that has posted a 4.54 ERA and 1.82 HR/9. Any of the Braves' big bats are in play for this game, but I like Freddie Freeman most today. The Braves are -250 favorites with a 4.5 run team total. Their offense should be able to do some damage in this game.
Sneaky Stacks: Baltimore Orioles vs. Justin Dunn
Top Avoids of the Day for 4/14/21
Zack Wheeler at New York Mets
This isn't a knock on Wheeler as a pitcher, it's more of fading him at his current price ($9700 FD, $8400 DK) as a small road favorite (-115) on a slate with three superior options: McCullers vs. DET (-240 favorite), Morton vs. MIA (-250 favorite), and May vs. COL (-270 favorite). Wheeler should be able to get back on track against a struggling Mets offense, so he's definitely worth a look in larger tournaments, but he's not someone that I'll be playing today.
Josh Fleming vs. Tampa Bay Rays
While it looks enticing to play a Rays pitcher at home against a weak Rangers offense, I wouldn't suggest rostering Fleming because it's unlikely that he pitches more than four or five innings. This is a young pitcher who was limited to two to three innings in each of his outings during Spring Training. Even with the Rays as -200 favorites, I don't feel comfortable rostering Fleming today.
