Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking
Diamondbacks RHB vs Chad Bettis
With David Peralta and Paul Goldschmidt leading the charge, the big bats of the Arizona Diamondbacks look poised to do serious damage against the Rockies righty. Diamondbacks right-handed hitters have a combined .311 wOBA versus RHP. To top it all off, Chad Bettis is really bad at home (5.18 ERA at home) and even worse against right-handed hitters (.391 wOBA at home vs RHB). Those bats could be ready to have a big day.
Dodgers LHB vs San Francisco Giants
The majority of the Dodgers lineup is left-handed, so fantasy owners will be forced to choose wisely. But as a whole, the LHB in the Dodgers lineup do very well against RHP. The Dodgers’ lefties have a .337 wOBA versus right-handed pitching. Plus when Jake Peavy is facing left-handed hitters away from home, opponents have a .340 wOBA. Think of picking up guys like Adrian Gonzalez and Yasmani Grandal in that Dodger lineup, as they have a very favorable matchup.
DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings
Kyle Hendricks (SP, CHC) - $6,700
The biggest reason that Kyle Hendricks should be such a great option for DFS players is because of the team he is facing. The Reds offense has really struggled in August, as they have a .291 team wOBA and a slash line of .232/.299/.365 (not to mention that they have not won a single series in August). Hendricks has been particularly sharp at home with a 3.55 ERA in 63.1 IP and an opponent slash line of .238/.294/.374. Hendricks could be a real bargain.
Robbie Ray (SP, ARI) - $5,600
Robbie Ray has quietly been a very solid pitcher this season, and it looks like he could get even better today. Ray has been outstanding on the road (2.75 ERA in 55.2 IP). The Rockies rank 28th against LHP with a .289 wOBA and 23rd in wOBA (.304) for the month of August. The game may be in Coors Field, but that shouldn’t deter DraftKings players from adding Ray to their lineup.
DFS Infielders to Consider For DraftKings
Blake Swihart (C, BOS) - $3,500
Blake Swihart hasn’t been great this season, but he has managed to hit well versus right-handed pitchers. Swihart has a .293/.329/.400 slash line versus right-handed pitching and should be a sleeper pick versus Ivan Nova. The Red Sox catcher has also been hot of late, as he is the proud owner of a .364/.435/.491 slash line in August.
Joey Votto (1B, CIN) - $5,500
The Reds may have struggled in the second half, but that has not been the story for Joey Votto. Votto owns a ridiculous .385/.568/.715 slash line in the second half of the season. The Reds will likely not win against the Cubs, but expect their first-baseman to have a nice day against Kyle Hendricks.
Jose Altuve (2B, HOU) - $5,000
Jose Altuve absolutely kills left-handed pitching and facing Vidal Nuno of the Seattle Mariners should do nothing to change that trend. Altuve owns a .400 wOBA against left-handed pitching and has stolen 11 of his 34 stolen bases against southpaws (despite having only reached base 69 times against lefties compared to 191 times overall). Altuve could be a multi-categorical contributor today.
Francisco Lindor (SS, CLE) - $4,000
After starting off his career very slowly, Francisco Lindor has gone on a nice hot streak. He has a .369/.407/.519 slash line in the second half of this season. His splits are very much even (.310 AVG vs. R, .315 vs. L) which makes the switch-hitter look extremely valuable. David Price will be a tough pitcher to face, but Lindor looks primed to have a nice outing against him.
Kris Bryant (3B, CHC) - $5,100
The Reds are calling up Michael Lorenzen to start against the Cubs, and though he has been dominant lately in Triple-A, his numbers in the majors tell a different tale. Kris Bryant has crushed right-handed pitchers this season with a .369 wOBA against them and is even better against righties at home (.446 wOBA).
DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings
David Peralta (OF, ARI) - $4,000
So far this season, David Peralta has done virtually all of his damage against right-handed pitchers, and he will look to continue that trend against the Rockies and Chad Bettis. All of Peralta’s 13 home runs have come against righties, and seven of those have come on the road. Peralta should do very well in Coors Field against a weak righty and is definitely worth owning in DFS leagues.
Stephen Piscotty (OF, STL) - $4,300
Stephen Piscotty has been just what the doctor ordered for an injury-riddled Cardinals lineup. Piscotty will likely start against Gio Gonzalez in St. Louis, which looks like an overwhelmingly positive matchup for him, as he has a .476/.455/.762 slash line with a .506 wOBA against lefties at home. Piscotty could be a bargain bin steal for DFS players and should be added to all lineups.
Michael Conforto (OF, NYM) - $3,900
Michael Conforto almost never starts against left-handed pitching but frequently starts against righties. Against right-handed pitching, Conforto owns a .270/.368/.500 slash line and a .373 wOBA. If Conforto is starting, he could be a great bargain pickup and is definitely worth the start for DFS players.
