Hello everybody and welcome! The 2021 MLB season and alive and well and that means our new friends over at PrizePicks have a TON of great props we can look to take advantage of. PrizePicks is a great DFS props site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.
Our partners at PrizePicks offer some of the best, and easiest to win, MLB DFS games in the industry. There are no large-field tournaments filled with sharks where you have to get lucky just to place. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money. With promo code 'BALLER' you can get a 100% match on your deposit up to $100.
PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game. The second game is known as Single Stat. For MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props in which you determine if the pitcher in question will go over or under their projected strikeout total. You can mix and match players from each type of game in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. For today's article, we are going to try and focus on the main board's Single Stat pitchers and explain why a pitcher will or will not go over their projected strikeout total. Let's see what the board offers today!

Single Stat MLBP Totals
Drew Smyly under 7 strikeouts - I know Smyly struck out eight Nationals in his debut, but he also only struck out three Phillies in his second start and the Phillies are posting a 31,3% K rate vs. left-handed pitchers over the previous week. This number is set a bit too high. The Cubs are currently posting a 158 wRC+ mark vs. lefties and Smyly could find himself in trouble in this one.
Zach Eflin over 5.5 strikeouts - Eflin certainly has the stuff to get six Cardinals as he struck out eight Braves in his season debut. He also had the unfortunate task of facing them twice within the same week, which likely contributed to the two strikeout performance in his last start. The Cardinals are striking out at a clip of 23.1% vs. right-handed pitchers over the previous week and are also posting just a 92 wRC+ mark. Eflin also managed to strike out at least six batters in seven of 11 games in 2020.
Carlos Martinez under 4.5 strikeouts - Carlos Martinez is not the strikeout pitcher he once was. In 2021 thus far, he has struck out just five hitters across 10 innings pitched. In his last start, he only managed to strike out one Brewer and the Brewers are striking out at a clip of 25% on the season vs. right-handers.
Anthony DeSclafani over 5 strikeouts - DeSclafani struck out eight Rockies in his last start and also managed to get four Padres in his first start, and the Padres have the best K rate in baseball against right-handed pitching. He now gets a matchup against the Marlins who are posting a 29.5% K rate vs. righties over the previous week. This is a great number for him and he should be able to hit the over.
