Rays @ Orioles

More or Less Contest

Luis Patino less than 4.5 strikeouts and Matt Harvey more than 3.5 strikeouts

Patino has a tough matchup in this one as the Orioles are only striking out at a rate of 17.4% vs. right-handers over the previous 10 days, which is ranked third-best in baseball. Patino is also a guy that likely will not go too deep in this one as he has yet to throw more than four innings in any game in 2021. He has also failed to reach five strikeouts in all but one game.

Matt Harvey has the best matchup on the board in terms of strikeouts, which is why I like him to go over 3.5 in this one. The Rays are striking out at a rate of 30.3% vs. right-handers over the previous 10 days, which is worst in baseball. Harvey has also gone over this total in five of his eight starts in 2021

Yankees @ Rangers

More or Less Contest

Jameson Taillon more than 5.5 strikeouts and Mike Foltynewicz more than 4.5 strikeouts

Taillon has been solid in terms of strikeouts in 2021 as he has 43 strikeouts across 33 1/3 innings pitched thus far. He will be facing a Rangers team that has been all over the map in terms of K rate vs. right-handers and currently sit at a rate of 23.2% over the previous 10 days. This should be high enough for Taillon to get six strikeouts, which is a number he has reached in three of his last four starts.

The Yankees are striking out quite a bit vs. right-handers as they are posting a rate of 29.1% over the previous 10 days, which is ranked second-worst in baseball. We just got Jordan Lyles over 4.5 last night and Mike Foltynewicz should be able to do it as well as he has gone over 4.5 strikeouts in five starts on the season and has reached it in two of his previous three starts.

Pirates @ Cardinals

More or Less Contest

JT Brubaker more than 4.5 strikeouts and John Gant more than 4.5 strikeouts

Brubaker has been a nice surprise for the Pirates, which means he is probably on the trade block. All jokes aside, he has struck out 41 batters across 38 1/3 innings pitched in 2021 and has gone over 4.5 strikeouts in four of his previous five starts, including a seven strikeout performance against these Cardinals on April 30th. The Cardinals are striking out at a rate of 22.3% vs. right-handers over the previous 10 days, which should be high enough for Brubaker to get five of them.

Gant is a bit riskier in this one, but the Pirates are striking out at a rate of 24.2% vs. right-handers over the previous 10 days, which is ranked 12th-worst over that span. He has gone over this total in three of his previous five starts, but did fail to reach the total in his last start against the Pirates in Pittsburgh on April 30th. That being said, the Pirates were not striking out as much as they are now and Gant has been solid at home with 14 strikeouts in 15 1/3 innings pitched, which is why I lean to the more than on this one.
