MLB DFS Prop Picks for Home Run Derby - PrizePicks

Hello everybody and welcome! Tonight is the MLB Home Run Derby and that means our new friends over at PrizePicks have a TON of great props we can look to take advantage of. PrizePicks is a great DFS props site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.

Our partners at PrizePicks offer some of the best, and easiest to win, MLB DFS games in the industry. There are no large-field tournaments filled with sharks where you have to get lucky just to place. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money. With promo code 'BALLER' you can get a 100% match on your deposit up to $100.

PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game. The second game is known as Single Stat. For MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props as well as hitter props in which you determine if the pitcher or hitter in question will go over or under their projected total. You can mix and match players from each type of game in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. For today's article, we are going to look at some first-round home run props for the MLB Home Run Derby. The seeds for the Derby are as follows:

No. 1 Ohtani vs. No. 8 Soto
No. 2 Gallo vs. No. 7 Story
No. 3 Olson vs. No. 6 Mancini
No. 4 Perez vs. No. 5 Alonso

Hitters will have three minutes in the round to hit as many home runs as they can. Each player will also be granted 20 seconds of bonus time after the conclusion of each round and can earn up to 30 seconds of additional bonus time if they hit a home run of 475ft or further. The higher seed hits second and once the second player in a given round exceeds the home run total of his opponent, the round ends. There is no need for a player to add on to their total.

Single Stat and Fantasy Score MLB and MLBP Totals

Joey Gallo under 21.5 home runs - While Gallo can certainly mash 22 bombs in this competition, I do not think he will have to in the first round. He will be going up against Trevor Story in round one, who would have to hit at least 21 first-round bombs in order to make Gallo get over this total. On the season, Story has just 11 home runs, which is the fewest of any of the derby participants.

Salvador Perez over 16 home runs: Perez is in the opposite position as Gallo and will be hitting second in his first-round matchup with Pete Alonso. Alonso is a home run derby veteran and had rounds of 20 and 23 home runs in 2019 at Progressive Field. He also has launched 17 home runs in 2021 and should be in a position to have a monster round at Coors Field tonight. Salvador Perez will likely be chasing a home run total in the 20s and is more than capable of getting over 16 as he has 21 bombs on the season, which is the fourth-most of anyone in the contest. It should be noted that Perez sat out of Sunday's game with possible back tightness, so he definitely needs to be monitored heading into the contest. One would think that if he does participate, that he would have to feel 100% comfortable with no limitations.

Pete Alonso over 22 home runs - I eluded to Alonso in the above writeup and he should be able to get to 23 in this contest. He has 17 home runs on the season, which is the fifth-most in this contest. Alonso also participated in the 2019 derby and had round of 14, 20, and 23, however, the round of 14 can be tossed aside as he was not required to hit more than that to advance. Tonight, Alonso will be going first and will need to hit as many home runs as possible in order to feel comfortable with his chances of moving forward. Given that this derby is at Coors Field, he should be able to get to at least 24 home runs.
