Daily Fantasy Leagues - FanDuel Lineup Picks (5/29)
P: Ubaldo Jimenez ($6,100): Jimenez has been up and down lately as his 4.98 ERA would suggest, however for this price you will not find anyone else with his strikeout potential.
Over his past five outings he has 30 strikeouts while allowing 4 hits or fewer in three of those games. Today, he faces a Houston team that strikes out a bunch, so the probability of a 10-strikeout and 1-ER game are certainly in play here.
C: Devin Mesoraco ($3,500): Mesoraco is one of the top slugging catchers in baseball right now. His average will not wow you, but his home run on Tuesday ended Zack Greinke’s streak of allowing two ER or fewer going back to last year. He is not likely to rack up multiple hits, but he is a great GPP play capable of multiple home runs against Arizona’s Collmenter.
1B: Edwin Encarnacion ($5,000): Not much to talk about here-- Encarnacion looks like he is hitting a beach ball at the moment. He has 13 home runs this month alone, and has hits in nine of his last 10 games including eight home runs. Even with a high price, tag you need to get EE into your lineup today.
2B: Brian Dozier ($3,600): Dozier does everything you want to see in a fantasy player, with 11 home runs, 43 runs scored, 26 RBI and 12 stolen bases on the year. Today he faces Nick Martinez who has been solid in his last two outings, but is usually a reliever and has yet to go more than six innings this year.
3B: Matt Carpenter ($3,000): Carpenter has finally busted out of his early slump as he has hits in nine straight games with multiple hits in five of those games. He will not hit for power, but he has good doubles pop, especially against right-handed pitching, which he will face tonight in Ryan Vogelsong.
SS: Xander Bogaerts ($3,100): One of the few players who has not been struggling in Boston is Bogaerts. Now hitting in the two-hole, he has gotten on in front of Pedroia and Ortiz but has been left on a lot recently due to their struggles. In his last five games, he is hitting .381 with five runs scored. In his matchup today, he faces lefty Mike Minor of the Braves, meaning he should be in line for another solid multi-hit performance.
OF: George Springer ($4,000): The only person who could push Encarnacion for hottest hitter in baseball in super-prospect Springer. He now has six home runs in his last six games to go along with nine total hits, 12 RBI and 10 runs scored. Now that he has gotten comfortable at the major league level, he is unleashing his talents on the world. I don’t love his matchup with Jimenez, but it’s going to be hard not to pick him today even if you like Ubaldo.
