Daily Fantasy Leagues - FanDuel Lineup Picks (6/19)
P: Chris Archer ($7,300): Trusting Archer on a game-to-game basis has certainly been tough, but when he is right there are few better fantasy options. His last start he only went a meager three innings, but prior to that he had four start starts over six innings while striking out 28 in that time. Despite Houston roughing him up last outing, look for Archer to rebound at home and post a solid night.
C: Miguel Montero ($3,500): Montero was a disaster early in the season, but has rebounded lately to get himself back to a season average of .271. Along with that, he has 10 home runs and a solid 40 RBI hitting in the middle of the Arizona lineup. The lefty has done better in his career against right-handed pitching, which he faces tonight in Gallardo. He is one of the few catchers with multiple-homer upside tonight.
1B: Jose Abreu ($4,200): Tonight Abreu faces a pitcher who is 9-1 with a 1.92 ERA on the season. Fortunately for Abreu, that pitcher is Yohan Pino, and those are his minor league numbers. Abreu has been an equal opportunity smasher this season, as his 20 home runs and 53 RBI suggest. After another homer last night, Abreu should be the top 1B on the board today.
2B: Dustin Pedroia ($3,300): If you are a fan of BvP stats, then Pedroia is a lock to be on your team tonight. He has absolutely owned Scott Kazmir in his career, going 18-for-35 with just two strikeouts. Even though Kazmir has been solid, tonight you can't deny those career numbers and a depressed price.
3B: Ryan Zimmerman ($3,400): Zimmerman has been slowly working his way back into the lineup after his injury, but the last two games he seems to getting more comfortable. He is 3-for-7 with three RBI in the last two contests against Houston. His price is still relatively low as he has not quite been the offensive force he had been previously, but if he stays hot that could change in a hurry.
SS: Derek Jeter ($2,600): Shortstop is very weak tonight, so I'm looking to save some money here with the Jeter selection. He has had modest success against Drew Hutchinson in his career, going 3-for-6 in their few meetings. Jeter has lost nearly all of his power, but he has hits in seven of his last eight games including multi-hit games in five of those contests. He should be able to post a few fantasy points, which is good enough for his low price.
OF: Josh Willingham ($4,200): Another BvP darling tonight is Willingham against Jose Quintana. Not only is he 8-for-15 with two home runs in his career against the Chicago starter, but he also only has one strikeout. His price is a bit high for a player who is just one for his last 19, but before that stretch he had hits in six straight games. Combine that with his numbers against Quintana, and you have a good under-the-radar pick for tonight.
