Well, that was a quick weekend. Let's finish it on a high note by winning a ton of money on DFS today. With some pricey top level pitching options available today, such as Thor, Mad Max, and Mad-Bum, it may be difficult to roster all the studs you want on offense. This is when finding lower-priced value hitters becomes vital to your success. Allow me to help, by offering you options under $4,000 at each position to sprinkle into your lineups, freeing up some dough for a Mariners stack against Alfredo Simon.
That is the purpose of this article -- to provide you with the best value hitters available each day.
Today I'll be bringing you eight value hitters for MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball on FanDuel and DraftKings for May 22nd, 2016. Let's get rowdy.
DFS Hitters - Lineup Picks for FanDuel and DraftKings
Wilson Ramos, WAS (C)
FanDuel: $3,200/ DraftKings: $3,300
Ramos isn't necessarily a cheap option at the catcher position today, but in the grand scheme of things, he is very affordable for the potential production today. Over his career, Ramos is a .286 hitter versus the southpaws. Against Adam Conley, he has hit two HR in only six career PA. The Nationals have scored seven runs in 7.2 innings off Conley already this season, meaning there should be plenty of RBI opportunities today.
Also consider: Curt Casali, TB
Freddie Freeman, ATL (1B)
FanDuel: $3,400/ DraftKings: $4,500
Overshadowed by his team's record and recent showings of how not to fire a manager, Freeman has quietly been having a great season for the Braves. Today he faces Jerad Eickhoff, who has allowed 19 ER and 6 HR over his last five starts. The two squared off two weeks ago, and Freeman finished the game 3-4, 2 R, RBI, and a HR.
Thankfully, his team's record has seemed to have lowered Freeman's price significantly on FanDuel, making him an absolute steal. I mean, he is only $100 higher than Mark Reynolds versus a RHP away from Coors today.
Also consider: Adam Lind, SEA
Steve Pearce, TB (1B/2B)
FanDuel: $3,600/ DraftKings: $3,500
Pearce makes for a nice contrarian play today, since he is not as popular of a pick on days when he faces a RHP. But the Rays square off against Jordan Zimmermann, who has began his inevitable descent back to reality. Over his last three starts, Zimmermann has allowed 13 R and four HR, after allowing 2 R and one HR through his first five starts.
In 11 lifetime PA against Zimmermann, Pearce has collected four hits, including two dingers and two walks.
Also consider: Neil Walker, NYM
Martin Prado, MIA (3B)
FanDuel: $2,800/ DraftKings: $2,700
Here is another great contrarian play, as not many will be looking at the Marlins right handed hitters against Max Scherzer, especially one with zero HR this season. But Prado has been a hit machine in 2016, and is hitting .369 with all nine of his XBH versus RHP.
In his career, Prado is boasting a .500 BA with a HR in 22 PA against Scherzer. During their latest match-up, on April 21, Prado finished 2-4 with an RBI.
Also consider: Eugenio Suarez, CIN
Brad Miller, TB (SS)
FanDuel: $2,900/ DraftKings: $3,200
Miller is coming into this match-up red hot. Over his last three games, he has hit two doubles, two triples, and plated five runs. As mentioned above, Zimmermann has been slipping of late, making Miller a sneaky GPP option at the shortstop position.
Also consider: Troy Tulowitzki, TOR
Yasmany Tomas, ARI (OF)
FanDuel: $3,100/ DraftKings: $3,300
Tomas owns an impressive .389/.463/.722 slash with three HR versus LHP this season. Despite playing in a hitter friendly park, he has been much more effective on the road, with a .364 BA compared to .238 at home.
The Diamondbacks scored four runs off Jaime Garcia in five innings on April 25th, and Tomas filled the box score, finishing 2-4 with three R, RBI, BB, and two 2B.
Carlos Beltran, NYY (OF)
FanDuel: $3,200/ DraftKings: $4,100
Over the last seven days, Beltran is hitting .364/.375/.818 with two HR, four 2B, and 10 RBI. From the left side of the plate, the switch hitter has hit seven of his nine HR, and his match-up today is quite tasty.
Jesse Hahn's ERA may look good on the outside, but his 5.66 FIP suggests that it won't stay in the 3's for long. Hahn is only striking out 2.9 batters per nine innings, while allowing a 17.6 HR/FB%.
Ryan Rua, TEX (OF)
FanDuel: $2,200/ DraftKings: $2,800
Rua loves facing southpaws, and is hitting .357 off them in 2016. Everyone is aware of Dallas Keuchel's struggles this season, allowing 25 R and a .357 wOBA to right handed hitters.
On April 21st, the Rangers scored six runs in six innings off Keuchel. Rua finished the game 2-4 with a run scored. When paying up for a stud pitcher like Syndergaard or Scherzer, this is the kind of value needed in the OF to stay under budget.
Also consider: Steven Souza, TB
